Oula Dance merges high-intensity cardio with engaging and inclusive choreography, mindfulness practices, and a culture of community — all to an energetic soundtrack. Every Oula Dance class empowers participants to challenge their bodies & minds and process their emotions through music, movement, and, most importantly, a community connection. Learn the stretch and fold technique for sourdough. Leave with a proven starter, clarity and confidence to begin your sourdough journey! Fun tips and techniques to help learn the ancient craft and bring amazing bread into your home! Bakers will leave the course with a sourdough dough-ball, bagel dough, a proven starter, and a banneton basket. They will also gain knowledge needed to keep the starter alive and begin their sourdough journey.

Do you like to build and design boxes? This is a package design class for students to explore their creativity while experiencing everything boxes. Learn the entire creative process of making a box structure from start to finish. This includes following a dieline, making prototypes and adding surface design. You’ll have the opportunity to build and design boxes for cards, products, and more! We’ll also explore brands, graphic designers, and personal expression in the process. Come create and connect with package design!*please note we'll be creating box structures out of paper (not cardboard) Instructor: Darcy Shields This class is funded through Extended Learning through Minneapolis Public Schools. Every student who is in an Extended Learning class after school must have a Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) that will need to be signed by a Parent/Guardian and returned. Your child's after school teacher will send this form home with your child the first week of class. This class begins on October 21st and ends on January 13th **The deadline to request after school bussing beginning the first day was September 23rd. Registering after that day will result in a delay in a bus stop being available. You will be notified when a stop is available. ¿Te gusta diseñar y construir cajas? In our new Paint Pals afterschool class, students will create fun projects using different types of paints and art supplies. Each week, our paint artists will explore textured canvas creations, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, and so much more! Students will explore different painting techniques through hands-on art activities designed to get creative and build confidence. From creating a DIY book using watercolors, to painting textured art pieces, this class is perfect for students who love fun, bold colors, and want to use their imagination! Note: Minneapolis Community Education has adjusted our pricing model for after school programs to maintain high quality programming while also responding to greater financial constraints. You will see the following pricing options when registering: Class Fee: This rate reflects the true cost of providing the program. Class Fee + Scholarship Fund: Families who are able to contribute more can select a rate above the class fee. The additional amount helps support our scholarship fund and provides access to reduced rates for other families. Create a coloring book you can take home to help you decompress after a long day, or to give as a gift. You will create a ‘reverse’ coloring book by using watercolor techniques to make designs that at a later date can be traced, with pens, markers, or color pencils as a mindful activity to complete the design. Class time will focus on painting and creating the pages and cover of the coloring book. The class will end with a simple book-binding lesson to finish up our coloring books to take home. The final coloring book can be up to 30 pages long. This class is open to all skill levels; no previous experience is required with painting or book binding. .

This is a great opportunity to come and hang out in community at North High School painting pictures of your choice and listening to some jazz tunes. Tell a friend bring a friend and have some fun painting and listening to jazz music. We look forward to having you join us.

We will do watercolor painting, painting on a canvas with acrylic paint, using fabric paint to decorate a t-shirt, and other cool projects! While this is not a Spanish language class, this class will be taught in Spanish. This is an art class that is primarily for Spanish-speaking students, but is open to anyone who likes to create art with paint! Taught by Ashely Perez Arguello. Students will have the opportunity to paint to their hearts content, exploring as many different styles of painting as they wish! This is a great opportunity to hone your skills and try new things!

A workshop for playing with paper. Make whatever your heart desires: junk journal, themed page, start a traveling journal, anything! Bring your own stuff if you would like, but there will be plenty provided in the class. If class is full, please enroll for the waitlist. We will contact you if a space becomes available.

Paper can be a lot of things, from a simple plane and snowflake to a massive castle. In this class, students will craft all sorts of unique projects and discover their inner artist. In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is collecting program fees so our youth programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the actual cost of offering a class as well as options that help us cover our administrative costs. Fees cover instructor pay, class supplies, program materials, marketing and scholarships. The actual cost of the class is the first listed however, families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. As always, we will continue to offer scholarships upon request. When families participate as they are able, in all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining. Thank you for your consideration as you sign up for youth programs!
