In this fun and supportive class, you’ll learn the essential do’s and don’ts of machine sewing while completing a simple, practical project—a reversible tote bag. Whether you’re the next Monet or have never picked up a paintbrush before, this Paint Along class is perfect for all skill levels. Enjoy an evening of creativity and leave with a finished masterpiece ready to display on your wall. All art supplies are included — canvas, easel, paints, aprons, and more. Come solo or bring a friend for a memorable creative experience.

Curious about a new medium? Need space to explore creative ideas? In Art as Play, we’ll do just that - play with a variety of supplies, try new methods and explore our creative abilities and ideas. This is a safe and supportive environment to try, begin and be in your artistic practice. We’ll have acrylic paint, watercolors, oil pastels and collage supplies available, as well as examples of how to engage with those mediums singularly or as mixed media. No pressure on the final product, just a space to enjoy the journey of creating and following artistic curiosity and intuition.

In the Adult Art Creators Class instructed by Ms. Rocky, participants explore their creativity through engaging, hands-on art experiences designed to inspire imagination, relaxation, and personal expression. Each session introduces a variety of artistic techniques using materials such as paint, clay, paper, mixed media, recycled materials, and natural objects. Participants will experiment with drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and simple printmaking while learning how color, composition, texture, and form work together to create unique pieces of art. Projects may include abstract painting, clay sculptures, mixed-media collages, nature-inspired artwork, creative journaling, and imaginative designs using recycled materials. The class encourages creativity, exploration, and connection in a welcoming and supportive environment. Participants will have opportunities to develop their artistic style, share ideas, and enjoy the creative process at their own pace. Whether you are a beginner or have previous art experience, this class offers a fun and inspiring space to unwind, learn new techniques, and create meaningful artwork. No prior art experience is required—just a willingness to explore, create, and enjoy the artistic journey!

There is a very rich history of zines, and the practice of making zines is an excellent form of sharing and expressing in a free way that can be anything you want! We will look at examples of one page zines, then start our own zines. The second week we will finish our one page zines and share them with our classmates. There will be an optional meet-up in between our 1st and 2nd class at a local Minneapolis shop that offers Zines. No experience necessary, just bring your interests and curiosities.

Learn basic hand sewing techniques including several stitches to do your own mending: stitch up a rip, sew on a button, put on a hook and eye, place a patch or darn those holes. Come as you are – all learning materials are provided. Once the class is full, join the waiting list. When we have enough people waiting, we will open a second section of this class.

Beginning to learn something new is exciting, but knowing how to start can be an obstacle. You need no prior basket weaving experience to learn foundational basket weaving techniques to make square, rectangular, round and oval basket bases; some simple techniques to weave the sides of a basket, weaving tension and shaping, and finally, how to finish a basket by adding a rim. Extra weaving materials will be provided each week, allowing you to experiment on your own between sessions or at a later date.

This rug braiding technique is versatile, sustainable and gorgeous. Adding fabric as you go, this method uses scraps to develop a durable rug for your home unlike other traditional rug braiding methods. This class will cover skills needed to make a circle or oval rug, how to select fabric and preparation, and possible striping variations. Accessibility: Fine motor skills will be utilized throughout, with seating or standing options. All materials will be included. Sign up for Crafting Sustainably to create beautiful and useful crafts using everyday materials in a collaborative environment. You will walk away with 3-5 unique crafts, the know-how to efficiently source materials from home & locally, and an expanded Minneapolis crafting community.

Learn and gain comfort with the basic building blocks of crochet! Come with yarn and hooks appropriate for the yarn weight of your choice. We will practice tension, make swatches of each stitch learned, create granny squares, tackle the “magic loop” and discuss appropriate uses of stitches and how to read patterns for future projects. (Feel free to bring in an easy-intermediate level project to begin working on as well!) Bring a little sparkle into your home with a one-of-a-kind sun catcher! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design and fill a wooden sun catcher frame using colorful crushed glass pieces. Once your design is complete, you’ll learn how to use resin to seal the glass in place, creating a luminous piece that catches the light beautifully in any window. A box will be provided to safely transport your finished artwork home. Choose your design from: pumpkin, sunflower, Santa, bird, or dragonfly.

Come and gather for 6 weeks with other folks moving towards their creative selves. We will do exercises of imagination and creation used by artists with a mindfulness approach. Expect to have regular quiet time exploring through guided exercises, and to connect with the larger group through listening and sharing. You do not need to be an artist or have something specifically in mind to take this class! Folks who take this class often come in feeling stuck in some kind of a rut, or wanting some support to keep their momentum going. We will work on this together! There will be occasional optional movement and low lighting, arrive scent free when possible. Please bring something to write and draw in, like a sketchbook or notebook, and something to write with. Rips and holes can happen in our favorite knit garments, including t-shirts, socks, and workout clothes. Heal all of those holes with darning and community during this two hour class. Lauren will teach you how to repair the knit garments in your life with two methods of darning. In Partnership with Curiosity Studio. Accessibility: Previous Darning skills not required.
