Weaving: Bast Fibers - Knit, Crochet, or Weave with Linen, Hemp, & Nettle (Ella Baker)

Dive into the world of bast and discover the beauty, diversity, and unique qualities of linen, hemp, and nettle yarns! Over the course of an afternoon, we’ll create small crocheted, knit, or woven samples to get a feel for each of these bast fibers. We’ll also discuss how these fibers are cultivated and processed from plant to yarn.

You can choose to weave, knit, or crochet with linen, hemp, and nettle yarns provided in class. Bring your favorite knitting or felting needles or small frame loom, or borrow tools from the Guild. Small looms will be available for students with no prior fiber art experience to weave samples.
