WaitlistBeginner Old Time Clawhammer Banjo (Roosevelt)Music & PerformanceClawhammer banjo is a big part of Old Time music, and is great fun to play. If you are a beginner at clawhammer banjo, Old Time music, or both, you are welcome to this class and we'll start from zero. We will cover some music theory to help you get started, and touch on the basics of how jams work. The playing techniques are applicable to any kind of music, but we will focus on tunes that get played at jams. Everything will be taught entirely by ear, with no written music. All you need to bring is a functioning five string banjo (check that you can get it in tune), a capo, and a tuner. If class is full, please enroll in the waitlist. Beginning Conversational Spanish (Online at your own pace)LanguagesDesigned for beginners, we will have you speaking and reading Spanish in no time. You will practice the basic building blocks of the language and common idiomatic expressions. You will know enough vocabulary and grammar for simple conversations, and you will learn how to ask and answer questions. Whether you speak some Spanish and need a refresher, or no Spanish, you will complete the course with the skills to communicate in Spanish. Courses are online and asynchronous, meaning students may login to the classroom anytime during the course session, day or night, 24/7. In this class we will explore dancing with finger cymbals, and veils, while adding to our isolations, layering skills, and musicality. Message from owners Aaron and Molly Wills: Our farm grows certified organic, delicious blueberries, strawberries and raspberries south of the Twin Cities in beautiful Northfield. Over the last 10 years, we've slowly transformed the gentle, rolling terrain of our farm from a field of corn and soybeans into a luscious, fruitful landscape. Our farm is blanketed with rows of organic blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries - along with cherries, grapes, and native prairie strips - to provide you with both amazing tasting fruit and a beautiful and peaceful landscape to enjoy with your friends and family. We look forward to seeing you soon out on the Little Hill.. After a farm tour, we'll have opportunity to pick berries and shop in their gift store. We will bike over land and paddle over water, all while making new friends and learning about the living things around us. Participants should bring their own bike and helmet and be able to bike up to 8-12 miles a day (with breaks). Register your child for a morning class and an afternoon class and we will provide lunch and supervision free of charge from 12-1 pm. When signing up for the morning class, you will be able to choose the option “Stay for free lunch and recess from 12:00 – 1:00 pm” as you complete your registration. We will learn about bike safety, practice technique, and gain confidence on our bikes. We will also take time to observe and learn about the living things we see along the way.
