Northeast Chess is a space for adults looking to practice, learn and improve their chess game with their community. Online chess is a great way to practice, but OTB chess is the way the game is meant to be played! We will have boards and clocks, but you are more than welcome to bring your own! This class is on a sliding fee scale. Fee is not required but support for the program is appreciated. -

Bring your dog along for this 90 minute hands-on massage class, you will learn techniques for massaging your pet at home, no matter their age or level of activity. Yes, bring your dog! Please note that this in-person class isn't meant for young puppies or reactive/easily distracted dogs. An introductory class on how to use a metal detector - Learn how they operate, their uses, and what types of things you can find. Cover municipal regulations, best practices and courtesies, and how exactly to interpret what each beep means. From relic hunting to coin collecting, trying to find lost keys to finding the edge of a property line, Metal Detecting is a fantastic hobby with a wide range of uses. Participants will receive an overview of the above, followed by time to put it to practice and go on a hunt of their own! Each student will get to use an individual metal detector and free reign to explore and hunt. A staff will be present to assist and answer any questions during this period. Metal Detectors are quite light, weighing less than 3 pounds. Frequent standing/sitting/kneeling is expected for this activity. If the class is full, please sign up on the waitlist. Repair or Replace Rotted Speaker Foam (Camden)
Speaker suspension foam was one of the greatest advances in high fidelity speaker systems, but as many people discovered, it had a short life span. Every day, perfectly good stereo speakers get thrown away when the installation of replacement foam would typically be a quick and user-friendly repair. We will discuss how to identify, repair or replace rotted speaker foam, and where and when to go for help. -

Learn to identify copper tubing, steel pipe, PVC, valves and fittings, their nomenclature, and how to join them together. You will also learn the techniques of soldering copper tubing during a hands-on application in class. -
Vintage HiFi & Turntable Set-Up, Upkeep & Maintenance (Camden)
From the latest releases to collectables, vinyl is hot again. Learn how to repair that old stereo set in your closet or find out what to look for in those garage sale finds (and what to avoid) by learning the turntable jargon, basic setup, installation, upkeep and getting hands-on experience balancing a tonearm. Watch a vintage turntable get back into action and find out if that old stereo you or your parents had back in college is okay to use with just a new needle or if it needs an overhaul. Jim has been collecting and dealing vinyl and repairing turntables for twenty years so you can leave with the knowledge you need to get back into vinyl with confidence. .
