Backpacking (Ella Baker)
Learn basic skills for your first backpacking trip before hitting the trail. Learn from a seasoned backpacker who is a Wilderness First Responder how to choose a trail, pack a backpack, set up a tent, use a backcountry stove and water filter, use a gear list (provided), read a map, protect food and maintain gear. This orientation is required prior to any on-trail first-time backpacking trip with Backpack The Trails LLC. Please note that taking this class does not commit any attendees to sign up for a trip. -
Camping with Babies & Kids (Southwest)
Adults will learn and practice skills for taking babies and young children camping, hiking, backpacking, and having fun in the woods! Topics will include tips and tricks for health and safety, sleeping systems, where to go, Leave No Trace, snacks and meals, covering miles, and carrying gear. Participants will get the chance to make a fire and cook over it, work a camp stove with little ones around, and practice setting up tents. Everyone will leave feeling more prepared and empowered to adventure outside with their little ones. If class is full, please enroll for the waitlist. Ping pong, or table tennis, is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world—it is even in the Olympics. Play in the round-robin format while having fun and staying fit in this fast-paced workout.
