WaitlistArchitect Avenue Walking Tour (Summer)Trips, Tours & Special EventsThe beautiful old houses on Architect Avenue in Northeast Minneapolis began with a contest in 1905 between the most talented architects of the Midwest. The challenge was to design a cottage that could be built for $1,500 that would combine elegance, utility and affordability. The contest culminated in a grand celebration and the cottages were planned to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Today, all six homes still exist on this nearly forgotten quiet corner of Hennepin County. Join urban historian Kathy Kullberg to learn about the six architects, their house designs, the last days and the final outcome of the competition. We will meet at Architect Avenue which you can enter at Central Avenue NE and Columbia Parkway.Adult Enrichment Summer 2026 -
