Northeast Chess is a space for adults looking to practice, learn and improve their chess game with their community. Online chess is a great way to practice, but OTB chess is the way the game is meant to be played! We will have boards and clocks, but you are more than welcome to bring your own! This class is on a sliding fee scale. Fee is not required but support for the program is appreciated.

Part 2: Drone Aerial Photography Video Flying Your Plan - Checklists, Composition, Flying your drone, and more. This course builds upon Part 1 and applies to those with drones or looking to get a drone and those simply learning more about drones, aerial photography, and videography. Part 3 – Drone Aerial Photography Video Advanced This course builds upon parts 1 and 2, combining everything from planning and flying your flight, imagery capture (photos and video), composition, and post-flight post-production. While this class focuses on drone aerial photography and videography, elements also apply to action cameras such as GoPro, Osmo, and 360s. Topics covered include: Preflight planning and briefing, LAANC airspace authorizations Demo flight and opportunity to fly your drone, weather permitting Capture some footage and images. Come learn how to play Magic the gathering! We will be going through the basics in terms of rules and gameplay. Once the class is comfortable, we can open up the class for open play and learn different formats. This class is open to all, from beginners to seasoned players who would love to brush up on their knowledge. The goal of this class is to connect people with the game and their community by playing some fun games together!

No Pokémon experience necessary—just curiosity, a love of games, or a little nostalgia! Remember collecting Pokémon cards, watching the TV show, playing Pokémon on a Game Boy, or arguing with your friends about whether Charizard was the coolest Pokémon ever? Whether you’re returning to Pokémon after decades away or discovering it for the first time, this beginner-friendly class is a chance to have some fun, learn something new, and meet other people who enjoy games and Pokémon. We’ll explore two very different ways to play: Pokémon Trading Card Game Learn the basics of the Pokémon Trading Card Game in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. We’ll cover: • What all those different cards actually do • Pokémon, Energy, Trainer cards and how they work together • How to build and play a basic deck • Attacking, damage, Knock Outs and Prize cards • How a Pokémon TCG turn works • How to play casually with friends • Where adults can find local Pokémon card games and communities You don't need to own cards or know the rules. We'll learn by actually playing. Finding Your Pokémon People One of the best parts of Pokémon is the community. We'll learn how to find local players throughout Minnesota using tools such as Facebook groups, Discord, and official Pokémon event listings. We'll practice basic digital-community skills such as: • Finding a local group • Reading group rules • Asking questions without feeling like a beginner • Finding people who play near you • Understanding Discord channels and servers • Staying safe when meeting people from online communities We'll look at Minnesota examples and learn how to find communities in your own city or neighborhood. Who is this class for? Adults of all ages and experience levels. You do NOT need: • Previous Pokémon knowledge • A collection of cards • A gaming background • Experience with Discord or Facebook • To be particularly “good at a card games” You DO need: • Curiosity • A willingness to play • An interest in Pokémon, cards, games, walking, or meeting fellow Pokémon fans Come for the nostalgia. Learn how to repair that old stereo set in your closet or find out what to look for in those garage sale finds (and what to avoid) by learning the turntable jargon, basic setup, installation, upkeep and getting hands-on experience balancing a tonearm. Watch a vintage turntable get back into action and find out if that old stereo you or your parents had back in college is okay to use with just a new needle or if it needs an overhaul. Jim has been collecting and dealing vinyl and repairing turntables for twenty years so you can leave with the knowledge you need to get back into vinyl with confidence. .

In a fully-equipped wood shop, work on projects of your choice or consider ideas suggested by the instructor. No on-site project storage available. Please note that there is very limited space in the wood shop and we cannot accommodate storage for your projects- you must transport your materials each class. Also note that students are NOT permitted to use the Timesaver machine, it must be operated by the instructor AT ALL TIMES!
