German: Deutsch fuer Lesende (Roosevelt)

Over four weeks, participants will read, privately and aloud during class, a variety of German prose – maybe some poetry – by several authors. The course begins with two short pieces by Swiss author Peter Bichsel. Students will then decide on authors and their works from a list developed by the instructor and augmented by student requests. Discussion, in German with limited digressions in English, will focus on content, vocabulary, and cultural information.
