  • Art Creators(Grades K-6)

    In the Art Creators Class, students in grades K-3 explore their creativity through hands-on art activities designed to spark imagination and build confidence. Each session introduces young artists to fun techniques using a variety of materials such as paint, clay, paper, recycled materials, and natural objects. Students will experiment with drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and simple printmaking while learning how colors, shapes, and textures can work together to create unique artwork. Activities may include creating colorful paper mosaics, designing animal sculptures with clay, painting with unusual tools, making nature-inspired art, and building imaginative creations from recycled materials. The class encourages curiosity, self-expression, and collaboration. Children will have the chance to share their ideas, explore different artistic styles, and proudly take home their creations. No prior art experience is needed—just a willingness to try new things and have fun making art! This class is a welcoming and playful environment where every child can discover the joy of creating.
  • Champions in Training: Youth Boxing Fitness (Grades K–6)

    Train like a champion while having fun and building healthy habits! Designed specifically for young athletes, this high-energy, non-contact class combines boxing fundamentals, footwork, and agility drills to boost strength, endurance, coordination, and self-confidence. There is no sparring or contact involved—just a safe, supportive environment where all fitness and skill levels can thrive. Led by a professional boxer (2–0, 1 KO) and founder of AKINGSFORMULA, this program goes beyond physical exercise. Through the fundamentals of boxing, students learn essential life skills—like discipline, focus, perseverance, and confidence—that help them succeed both inside and outside the gym. Target Audience: Grades K–6 Equipment Needed: Comfortable athletic shoes and clothes (no gloves or special gear required) Focus: Non-contact physical fitness, core boxing skills, and character building

    Gym Games (K-6)

    Join Fall after school in the gym for a 11 week club where you get to move! Shake, shuffle, and slide off the school day as students engage in weekly exercises and gym games between 4 and 5:30 that invigorate your student to increase focus and a body calm for time at home! For students grades K-5. In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is now offering fees on a sliding scale. We're moving to a sliding scale model for program fees so our youth programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a class as well as discounted options and options that help us cover our administrative costs. Fees cover instructor pay, class supplies, program materials, marketing and scholarships. Families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. As always, we will continue to offer full scholarships upon request. When families participate as they are able, in all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining.     GEMS is Girls in Engineering, Mathematics, and Science. GISE is Guys in Science and Engineering. This Project Based Learning program for students in grades 1, 2 and 3 provides positive early experiences in science, technology, engineering and math. Fall 2026 focus: Students will learn the Engineering Design Process and work in teams to solve real-world problems using Legos and Computer Programming. This class will run from October 19th through December 16th.

  • Paper Mâché Art Studio (Grades K-6)

    Unleash your creativity and turn everyday materials into 3D masterpieces! In this hands-on, 8-week studio course, students will guide a sculpture project from initial concept to finished creation. Class members will experiment with materials like papier-mâché, plaster, wire, and repurposed recyclables while learning how to build strong internal structures and bring their ideas to life. Each week builds on the last—from sketching plans and constructing armatures to adding fine details, paint, and finishing touches. The session concludes with a celebratory showcase where students can share their finished artwork with the group. Course Length: 8 Weeks (No class 11/25) Time: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM (or 6:00 PM) Weekly Course Outline Week 1 (10/21): Welcome & Conceptualizing Class introductions, course overview, and brainstorming final project themes (creating an "ode" to a topic of choice). Week 2 (10/28): Material Exploration Discovering how art can come from anything. Hands-on practice with balloons, traditional papier-mâché (newspaper, flour, and water), and plaster techniques. Week 3 (11/4): Design & Structural Planning Sketching primary and backup designs, planning necessary base support structures, determining required materials, and receiving constructive peer and instructor feedback. Week 4 (11/11): Base Construction & Armatures Building strong, structurally sound foundation bases using recyclables, foil, and wire before applying initial layers of papier-mâché or plaster. Week 5 (11/18): Building Volume & Form Fleshing out the sculpture's main body and completing base layers in preparation for drying. Week 6 (12/2): Final Structural Assembly Completing all papier-mâché, plaster, and adhesive work to fully secure the sculpture's form. Week 7 (12/9): Paint & Surface Decoration Adding color, paint, and decorative details to bring the finalized forms to life. Week 8 (12/16): Celebration & Final Showcase Reflecting on the artistic process, sharing finished projects with classmates, and celebrating everyone's creative growth.

    Seward Twin Cities Skaters (K-6)

    Welcome to the future of training - Sk8rsculpt is a class designed to enhance the skating skills for ALL skaters no matter the level or experience. This class targets the movement patterns needed to move efficiently, all done on a yoga mat. Half of the class is OFF skates using your skates as the tool, then second half is in boot training. The class has sections focused on agility, stability, balance, strength, body awareness and reaction speed. Hockey players, Roller derby, Skiirs, Figure skaters and Roller skaters, even skate boarders and inline skaters ALL can become more polished skater. This class is the ultimate universal fitness truth, as it can pertain to anyone who stands up on this earth. Stability training has scientific proof proving that not only physically does wonders but keeps the brain active and healthy. Children have a small window of time of opportunity, where they're brain develops most of its proprioception skills by age of 12. Non-skaters have much to benefit from this style of training. Athletes of all sorts like LeBron James, Shai and Lonzo Ball have implemented stability training as well as kinesthetic awareness growing their own proprioception, keeping an edge on the competition. Every day people can have the opportunity to get fit enough to glide effortlessly like the pros. Even if you plan to never skate, balance and stability will greatly improve your everyday life into old age. Living in Minnesota, slipping on ice is always a possibility, and many elderly folks health start to decline much quicker after a dangerous fall. Did you know skating can burn 600 to 1000 calories an hour? Not only that, it is fun! Knowing this could be a goal just to stay up on your feet and living a fit lifestyle. Whether you are an hobby skater, everyday person looking to grow physically, weekend warrior, upcoming All Star, or a benchwarmer looking to take a teammates spot.   • Tabletop Roleplaying Club (Grades 4-6)

    Attention 4th-6th grade students! The realm is in danger and brave adventurers are needed to save the day! Students will work collaboratively to tell and develop a story. Students use critical thinking and reasoning, creativity, flexible thinking, communication and problem solving, teamwork skills, and fundamental math skills. Students to create artwork, develop characters, and practice storytelling skills.
