WaitlistGlass Blowing Intro: Torchwork (Ella Baker)Arts & CraftsThis class is great for beginners with or without any experience! The student will learn safety fundamentals, tool and torch usage, solid rod welding and gathering, color application, shaping, and more. Students will be able to create small trinkets, marbles, paper weights, plant rods, or anything else that can be thought of with the skills learned. Class Policies: Please arrive at your scheduled class a few minutes early to fill out applicable paperwork and receive assigned safety glasses. Liability waivers and emergency contact forms must be filled out in order to participate in class. These forms will be provided upon arrival, prior to your scheduled class. Requirements: No sandals or open footwear - shoes must have closed toes and heels No loose sleeves or long dangling necklaces/bracelets Long hair must be tied back Please come to class fed and hydrated - standing is required for the duration of class for optimal safety. [A chair may be provided if needed for medical reasons] Recommendations: Cotton or natural fiber clothing recommended (It’s best to avoid synthetic clothing as it could melt in the case of an accident) It is highly recommended that you bring water to drink Free street parking will be available to all students in the front of the building. Grand Rounds Bike Tours: Bde Maka Ska (Roosevelt 55+)Trips & ToursExplore with a Minneapolis Parks Naturalist the deep and important connection this city has with water, both historically and today while touring the Minneapolis Grand Rounds on your bicycle. Planned stops along the way will offer opportunities to learn and discuss the highlighted features and history of individual tours. Each session will start and end in the same location and will be between 10-14 miles roundtrip. Please bring your own bike, helmet, and water. There is also an option to stay and socialize with the group for lunch after the program (bring your own picnic or dine from one of the near-by establishments). This 10-mile ride will explore three South Minneapolis Lakes and discuss the history of alterations that have been made and how those water engineering decisions effect the health of the lakes. Meet the group at Bde Maka Ska Refectory, 3000 E Bde Maka Ska Pkwy. Park in neighborhood or the North parking lot near Thomas Ave S and W Lake St and bike over. Program will be cancelled when environmental conditions are not suitable for safe biking.
