Nature and Art Journals (Gr. 3-5)Sanford Super Summer CampsCreate original works of art using watercolor, tempera and ink to make your own journal in nature. Learn a variety of techniques that use dry brushes, sponges, and tissue paper. Grades are the year your student will be entering in the Fall. A lunch is available to all students. Please select this option when you register. Community Education uses a sliding scale model for program fees so our summer programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the average cost of offering a class as well as discounted options and options that help us cover our administrative costs. In this hands-on class, little explorers dig into nature through muddy adventures, puddle jumping, bug spotting, and more. Whether we're making mud pies or collecting leaves, every moment is a chance to learn, grow, and connect with the world around us. Dress for the mess, rain or shine, we're heading outside! A limited number of Infants 0-4 months are welcome to stay with caregivers during discussion time. Please enroll your young infant only in the Sibling Care option. This fall along with a Kroening Naturalist, we will observe seasonal changes to enjoy nature's beauty. We will learn about native plants, the Mississippi River, snow on trees, mammals, animal habitats, and songs of birds. Caregiver education will explore how to lead your child's nature learning. The age range listed for this class is based on the child's age the day the class session begins. A lottery for 2nd Quarter classes will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026. You will be notified then if you are enrolled in the class. Quarter 2 classes begin the week of Nov. 16, 2026. All of our infant classes are taught by licensed Parent Educators and explore the joys and challenges of adding a new member to your family. Build trust, confidence, and understanding of your baby’s communication through singing, playing, reading, and caregiving discussions. Caregiver discussion will focus on topics relevant to life with your infant. Caregiver discussion includes topics on infant development, sleep, calming, attachment, brain development, and adjustment to caregiving. Ninja Warriors (Entering Gr. 3-5)Kenwood Super Summer CampsJump through obstacles, race through mazes, set up your own Ninja course and see who can complete it the fastest! Ninja Warriors will challenge your body and mind to see if you can finish the courses! Register your child for a morning class and an afternoon class and we will provide lunch and supervision free of charge from 12-1 pm. Reader’s Theater is a reading strategy that allows children to merge a child’s love of playing, performing, and the all-important skill of oral reading. This summer youth will improve their confidence in reading aloud and embodying different characters. Usually performed with minimal costumes and props. We hope to instill confidence and comfort in our young people while they explore and make connections with others. Students will also rotate throughout the day to music (singing) and dance classes where they will learn the basics and exploring their interest in the arts.
