Reader’s Theater is a reading strategy that allows children to merge a child’s love of playing, performing, and the all-important skill of oral reading. This summer youth will improve their confidence in reading aloud and embodying different characters. Usually performed with minimal costumes and props. We hope to instill confidence and comfort in our young people while they explore and make connections with others. Students will also rotate throughout the day to music (singing) and dance classes where they will learn the basics and exploring their interest in the arts. The age range listed for this class is based on the child's age on the date the class session begins.A lottery for 2nd Quarter classes will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026. You will be notified then if you are enrolled in the class. Quarter 2 classes begin the week of Nov. 16, 2026. Children and caregivers enjoy time together singing, playing and learning. During caregiver discussion time, the early childhood staff engage the children in planned activities while caregivers gather nearby, in the same room. Caregiver topics include child development, guiding behavior, sleep and nutrition in addition to caregiver joys and concerns. These classes are for you if you and your child are not ready to separate or simply prefer to stay together. ECFE classes are priced on a sliding fee schedule based on family income. On this boat cruise, you'll enjoy views of the Mississippi River's only gorge while learning about the history, current state, and complex future possibilities for our metro Mississippi. Hear how we engineered the locks and dams to tame the river for industry, and about the studies underway to consider changing or removing them. You'll also hear about other planned riverfront changes and the impact that climate change is having on our river. River conditions permitting, our boat will travel up and down through Lock and Dam 1. Meet at the Watergate Marina, 2500 Crosby Farm Road, Saint Paul Minnesota, 55116. Crosby Farm Road is at the intersection of Shepherd Road and Gannon Road. Transportation to the Watergate Marina is on your own. Thanks for joining our Mississippi River Cruise on the Magnolia Blossom.
