Adult Enrichment Academics

We’d like to welcome families from Afghanistan who have newly arrived to Minnesota! Our class provides families with a space to connect and share with each other their experiences and ideas on parenting. Together with our ECFE teacher, you and your child will have the opportunity to play and learn in an enriching early childhood classroom that centers your unique experiences.

Our programs serve youth in grades K-12 at Minneapolis Public School locations across the city to ensure all students have access to high quality programs. Community Education Youth Programs deliver a wide range of high-quality enrichment learning opportunities during out of school time (afterschool, release days, and summer). Community Education offerings support youth to develop strong peer relationships and foster new skills, through our intentional program design that fosters cultural identity, youth voice and leadership. In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is now offering fees on a sliding scale. In collaboration with MPS Indian Education, Native American families: •Explore and discuss your role as your child’s first teacher •Strengthen the caregiver/child relationship while singing, playing and learning •Focus on discussion topics of health and wellness, early learning, behavior guidance, and family relationships

Registration for Non-School Days 2026-27 will open August 14 at 7 am. Add to Calendar Registration seasons currently open: Before and After School 2026-27 Before and after-school childcare for children enrolled in High-Five/Pre-K through 5th grade Registration is now open, but will be temporarily closed as we approach the start of the school year, see below. Enrollments & Schedule Changes in Arux Beginning Sunday, August 9 through Sunday, September 6: If you are requesting a new enrollment during this time period, your child’s start date for the school year may be delayed until September 21, depending on site capacity. If you have an approved contract for the school year, you will not be able to make schedule change requests during this time period. This gives our sites the chance to plan staffing for the beginning of the school year. If you would like changes to be in effect by the first day of school, please request them before August 9. Otherwise, the next available date for Arux changes will be September 7 and may take up to 2 weeks to go into effect.
