Ms. Rhonda Lund has been teaching acting, drama, and theatre for over 25 years and brings her love of the stage to us in after-school. Students will learn the skills they need to feel confident performing in front of their peers and others. Each week, students will do warm-up exercises, write and perform skits, and work on their acting skills.

Love drawing and watching Anime? Students will build their anime drawing skills using books and tools to perfect their characters while hanging out with other students who love Anime. We will watch Anime from Crunchyroll and make and enjoy different types of ramen noodles!

Join Craft Club, a fun and inclusive creative space where students of all abilities come together to make art, learn new skills, and build friendships. We work with clay, paper mache, paint, beads, and other mediums. This club is partnered with Unified through Special Olympics of Minnesota, celebrating inclusion and teamwork through hands-on projects and creative expression. A Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN) Unified after-school club is an inclusive student organization that brings together youth with and without intellectual disabilities to collaborate, socialize, and lead. Operating under SOMN’s Unified Champion Schools initiative, these clubs focus on building meaningful friendships, co-organizing inclusive sports or recreational activities, and running school-wide campaigns that promote acceptance and respect. By giving every student an equal voice in leadership and social events, the club works to eliminate stigma and foster a culture where everyone feels valued and included. This is an ALC Extended Learning class and is paid for with state and federal funding.

Join Ms. Michelle, a community member and former Fashion Designer, in our after-school sewing studio to learn how to machine sew! In this two day a week class students will learn how to follow patterns, create stuffies, bags, and pillows, and leave proficient in sewing. Sewing machines, fabric and all supplies are provided. This is great class to learn how to sew if you have never sewn or are looking to become more confident in using a sewing machine.

Come and play games with friends while making delicious snacks like pizza, popcorn, and other treats. Students will have access to a variety of board games and have fun while hanging out and snacking.

Join a group of players to practice your skills and play against others. Students will receive coaching and work together to gear up for the Check It Out Chess Tournament! Beginners are also welcome.

This club mixes real-life skills with real fun! Think connection, arts & crafts, team challenges, and creative activities that keep you moving while learning. Topics include: friendship, confidence, communication, and healthy choices. This class is paid for by a grant through YWCA.

This Young Rembrandts workshop is full of possibilities! We will create wonderful artwork whilebeing inspired by Edvard Munch’s The Scream, Pablo Picasso's Woman in Hat, Vincent VanGogh’s Chair, Wassily Kandinsky’s Bavarian Market Square and Claude Monet’s Regatta atArgenteuil. The daily results will be truly frame-able! No experience necessary. Young Rembrandts is not a typical art program built around random projects or crafts. Our curriculum is a structured, step-by-step drawing program designed to teach artistic skills in a sequential and age-appropriate way. Students learn observation, concentration, problem-solving, and visual literacy while building confidence through measurable progress.Our classes are taught by experienced instructors who are both trained educators and working artists. We provide all materials and ensure a high-quality experience for students.

Design Teacher, Mx. Carlson, brings you this fun and techy after-school club built for students who love to fix, tinker, and play. FLUX is Sanford's electronics and maker club. We 3D design and print, solder circuits, fix broken electronics, and build things. Whatever you want to make. No experience needed! Futsal is similar to soccer but played with a smaller ball and in a gym. Fast-paced, fun, and open to all skill levels, this club is the perfect place to build your footwork, teamwork, and confidence. Whether you're new to the game or already skilled on the court, you'll learn new techniques, play exciting matches, and develop your game.

An empowering after-school space for girls and young women to build leadership skills, boost confidence, and explore their potential. Through fun activities, mentorship, and real-world learning, Girls, Inc. helps you grow stronger, smarter, and more courageous—together! Do fun activities like playing games, making slime, bath bombs, lip balm, journals, and more. This class is paid for by a grant through YWCA.

Explore the past and bring history to life! Research a topic of your choice, develop a project, and prepare to compete in Minnesota History Day. With guidance at every step, students will build strong research, writing, and presentation skills while creating a project they’re proud of. Ms. Pilon and Ms. Monroe will lead this group. Love a good twist? Join Ms. Olsen’s Murder & Mystery Book Club, where students read a thrilling YA novel and dive into weekly discussions. Be a part of something BIG! Project Success produces Middle School Musicals annually at several Minneapolis middle schools. Through Musicals, students learn how to work together to produce and perform a show for peers and their community. About Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.Step into a world of pure imagination! Candy maker Willy Wonka hides five Golden Tickets in his chocolate bars, offering a factory tour and lifetime candy supply to the finders. Five passionate children tour the mysterious chocolate factor, including the honest and amiable Charlie Bucket. It is an uplifting, vibrant story that celebrates the power of imagination. All Sanford students are eligible to audition for the cast or apply for the tech crew!We encourage students of all abilities and experiences with musicals to apply! For the audition, students will learn a short song and dance as well as read a few lines from a script. We work to include as many students as possible in the cast and tech crew, but are not able to guarantee a space for every student who auditions or applies.

For LGBTQIA+ Students and Allies. Have fun in community! You will do projects, crafts, have snacks, play games, and have fun being who you are! Pride partners with the MPLS Out4Good department. Students who are proficient in using a machine can join this open studio group to work on personal projects two days a week. Make gifts for friends and families or create your own wardrobe. Students will have access to machines, fabric, patterns, and all supplies to create whatever they can imagine. Ms. Michelle will supervise, coach, and assist.

Explore the intersection of food, science, and social impact in Urban 4-H! Led by Master Gardener and Educator Brownson. Dive into hydroponic gardening, cooking, and food justice projects while learning about climate change and other real-world issues. Students make stir-fry, taste microgreens, create smoothies, and pho! This is a partnership with the University of MN Master Gardeners and Urban 4H.
