Finding Nemo Musical (Grades 2-5)
Calling all theater lovers! "Disney Musicals in Schools" is returning to Keewaydin! We are proud to announce that Keewaydin is continuing our second year of the Hennepin Arts three year grant to enhance our performing arts program in grades 2-5. This year we will be performing "Finding Nemo” as our Musical! Ms. Perez & Ms. Johnson will be the leads with support from Ms. Hudson & Ms. Lizzie.
*This opportunity requires students to sign up for afterschool all three sessions: fall, winter & spring on Tuesdays AND Thursdays. Fall (Oct. 20 - Dec. 17) Winter (Jan. 12-Feb. 18) & Spring (March 2-March 18) Performances will be on March 16 and 18. Note: ALC sessions are shorter this year so it works out to be the same 17 week commitment as last year.
It is a full commitment and an amazing opportunity. Students will be performing 3 total shows with a student sharing performance at the State Theater! Performances will be on Tuesday, March 16 and Thursday, March 18 @ Keewaydin. State Theater performance is March 26 during the school day. Parents & families are invited to all performances. Space is limited. Come join the show!
This year we are offering for students to sign up to participate as an actor or stage crew. We have 34 spots for actors & 16 for stage crew. The stage crew members will be designing scenery & props, & managing the technical & behind the scenes aspects of the show. This runs the same time on Tuesdays & Thursdays for 3 sessions, but attendance is more flexible. Stage crew members are expected to be present at the 3 performances on March 16 & 18.
Note: Minneapolis Community Education has adjusted our pricing model for after school programs to maintain high quality programming while also responding to greater financial constraints. You will see the following pricing options when registering:
- Class Fee: This rate reflects the true cost of providing the program.
- Class Fee + Scholarship Fund: Families who are able to contribute more can select a rate above the class fee. The additional amount helps support our scholarship fund and provides access to reduced rates for other families.
Minneapolis Community Education is committed to making our classes accessible to all families. If you need a full or partial scholarship or would like to set up a payment plan, please contact Lizzie (Lizzie.Sanchez@mpls.k12.mn.us), Program Coordinator, to discuss available options. We’re happy to work with you to find an option that meets your needs! Extended Learning (ALC) classes are free.
