Tiny Seeds Academy: Thai Cooking Culinary Arts (Grade 3-5) Field Afterschool, Thursdays
Young Chefs Kitchen: A Global Culinary Adventure
Taste the World. Feed the Mind.
Our cooking program is far more than just a kitchen class — it is a high-energy journey designed to plant the seeds of lifelong health and global curiosity. We believe that when children “cook from scratch,” they develop a deep, meaningful connection to the food they eat and the world they inhabit. Our goal is to inspire a generation of children who don’t just eat food — they understand it, respect it, and know exactly how to fuel their own success.
International Cuisines: A Passport on Every Plate
We take our students on a flavorful tour of the globe! From traditional Mediterranean staples to vibrant Asian spices, our curriculum focuses on International Cuisines.
- Global Discovery: Students explore diverse cultures through their unique recipes and traditions.
- Mastering the Basics: We teach essential kitchen skills, from safe prep techniques to the art of seasoning — all while creating authentic dishes from the ground up.
- Adventurous Eating: We empower “picky eaters” to become brave explorers by giving them the confidence to taste, test, and enjoy new ingredients.
Fueling the Triple Threat: Brain, Body, and Mind
We are on a mission to revolutionize how children view nutrition. Our curriculum is built on the foundation of Healthy Eating for High Performance.
- For the Brain: We teach how specific nutrients boost focus, memory, and cognitive clarity.
- For the Body: Students learn how whole foods provide the sustained energy needed for growth and play.
- For the Mind: We integrate the Science of Well-Being, showing how a healthy gut and a balanced diet lead to a happier, more resilient emotional state
Why Our Kitchen is Different
- 100% Scratch Cooking: No pre-packaged shortcuts. We teach children the power of raw, fresh ingredients.
- Safety & Expertise: Our instructors are vetted professionals who prioritize kitchen safety while maintaining a high-energy, fun environment.
- Lifelong Impact: We aren’t just teaching a recipe for today; we are providing the tools for a lifetime of healthy, independent living.

In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is collecting program fees so our youth programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the actual cost of offering a class as well as options that help us cover our administrative costs. Fees cover instructor pay, class supplies, program materials, marketing and scholarships. The actual cost of the class is the first listed however, families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. As always, we will continue to offer scholarships upon request. When families participate as they are able, in all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining. Thank you for your consideration as you sign up for youth programs!
Minneapolis Community Education offers inclusive services to support children with various physical, behavioral and social emotional needs. If you are uncertain if your after school program is a fit for your student or, if you would like to explore reasonable accommodations that Community Education could offer, please reach out to your Community Education Coordinator. Our Inclusion Team, along with families and school staff, can meet to explore ways to support your student’s participation. Please note this process can take up to 30 days due to its individualized nature. We look forward to working with you and your family!
