Cruise to Hastings & Overnight Stay at The Confluence Hotel w/ Historian Dave Bredemus - June 7-8
Cruise the mighty Mississippi River from Saint Paul to Hastings, Minnesota, aboard the 80–foot Magnolia Blossom paddle boat!
Day One: Enjoy a continental breakfast on board as we depart by boat from the marina in Saint Paul and head to Hastings. Dave Bredemus will share historical narration as we take in views of St. Paul’s downtown skyline, Pigs Eye Lake, Gray Cloud Island, through Lock #2 and into Hastings.
Lunch will be served on the boat as we make our way down river.
Upon our afternoon arrival in Hastings, we will check into The Confluence Hotel--a boutique hotel that blends rivertown charm and countryside elegance. The Confluence Hotel is located on the banks of the Mississippi River near historic downtown Hastings.
After checking into our hotel, you will have time to stroll along the riverfront trail and parks and walk into the city to see its interesting architecture, enjoy arts and craft stores and search its many wonderful antique shops. Downtown Hastings has become one of Minnesota’s special main streets. Return to The Confluence Hotel for dinner (included) at Missi's Sip & Savor.
Day Two: After breakfast at the hotel (included), we’ll hop on our motorcoach bus to tour the city of Hastings and see its spectacular Vermilion River waterfall. While in Hastings we will tour the historic Le Duc Mansion and visit other unique sites in this city. As we leave Hastings we’ll view the impressive confluence of the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers.
The rest of the day we will explore rural Dakota County with a stop at the Bauer Farm known as the Little Log House Pioneer Village -- including more than 45 historical buildings, antique tractors, and a replica of the former Hastings Spiral Bridge. On the way home, we will take a lunch break (included) and tour Miesville and New Trier—two Minnesota towns stuck in the 19th century.
