This journey takes you through three historic Alabama cities to walk in the footsteps of brave freedom fighters:

Birmingham: The Crucible of the Movement

Birmingham is where the campaign for equality faced fierce resistance and achieved historic turning points.

  • 16th Street Baptist Church: Stand inside the sanctuary where four young girls lost their lives in a tragic 1963 bombing.
  • Kelly Ingram Park: Walk the grounds where protesters faced police dogs and fire hoses during the Children's Crusade.
  • Dynamite Hill: Visit the residential neighborhood that bore the brunt of numerous bombings by white supremacists, symbolizing fierce Black resilience.

Montgomery: Heart of the Struggle
Montgomery reveals the deep roots of American injustice and the power of organized resistance.

  • The Legacy Museum: Explore powerful, multimedia exhibits that connect the era of slavery to modern mass incarceration.
  • National Museum of Peace & Justice: Walk through the striking memorial dedicated to the victims of racial terror lynching.
  • Dexter Ave King Memorial Baptist Church Service & Parsonage Tour: Where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. lived and served as pastor and helped guide the bus boycott.
  • Rosa Parks Museum: Learn about the courage of the woman who sparked a 381-day bus boycott.

Selma: March to Voting Rights
Selma represents the ultimate fight for the right to vote and the cost of freedom.

  • Edmund Pettus Bridge: Walk across the span where peaceful marchers were beaten on Bloody Sunday in 1965.
  • National Voting Rights Museum: View artifacts, personal items, and exhibits honoring the foot soldiers of the voting rights movement.

    - FAME Sound Studio - (Florence Alabama Music Enterprises) in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, is a legendary recording studio founded by Rick Hall in 1959.. It birthed the soulful "Muscle Shoals sound", hosting iconic artists like Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, and Etta James, and remains an active, historic working facility today.
    Hamilton County Courthouse in Noblesville, Indiana - Famous for hosting the high-profile 1925 murder trial of KKK leader D.C. Stephenson
    - Old Courthouse Dred Scott Museum, St. Louis, MO 
    Mooresville, Alabama  - a remarkably preserved 19th-century village incorporated before Alabama was a state, featuring the oldest operating post office in Alabama and an entire town listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  • - 59-45 Days Prior to Departure: 90% Refund of Trip Fee OR $50 admin fee if we can fill your spot (or if you find someone to fill your spot)
  • - 44-16 Days Prior to Departure: 50% of Trip Fee OR $100 admin fee if we can fill your spot (or if you find someone to fill your spot)

Dave Bredemus was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota. After attending schools in Saint Paul he graduated from St. Cloud State University with a teaching degree in history and social studies. He taught junior high social studies and was an administrator with Community Education in Saint Paul for 38 years.

Dave developed a tour program for adults starting at 1981. Dave has done hundreds of day trips and many overnight trips covering every state in the United States. He has led 17 trips to Europe. Dave has also led educational trips to Mexico, Cuba and other Caribbean locations. The trips are an educational experience exploring history, geography, and cultures in a fun and interesting way.

Dr. Artika Tyner is committed to creating a world of inclusive leaders who will meet the pressing needs of today and work towards a better future where racial justice and economic justice reign supreme.  As a motivational speaker, author and educator, Dr. Tyner helps people of all ages connect with their gifts and develop tangible tools for bringing forth sustainable, durable change in the family, workplace, community or school.  By building and leveraging the tools in The Inclusive Leader she has inspired thousands of people to lead with their own gifts and plant a seed of social change.

Dr. Tyner is deftly able to ask the big questions, strategically innovate real solutions and then lead the way. She intentionally invests her time and energy in inspiring change and welcomes opportunities to present, collaborate and innovate with key stakeholders seeking to impact social change and do what no one has done before.
