Mappy Hour: Textile Maps (Camden)
Maps are a form of communication, as well as art. Explore how we think of our world by creating maps of places and spaces that connect us to nature, our communities, or our emotions. In this class, we’ll focus on making a map out of textiles. We’ll play with texture, color, and patterns to make a map. Our map making process will consist of cutting, gluing, sewing, and embroidering a quilt square size piece of fabric. Supplies will be provided in class, but bringing in supplies is also encouraged. This class is open to all skill levels: instruction on basic sewing/embroidery techniques will be provided.
