Foreign Policy Discussion: Immigration: Impact on U.S. & Countries of Origin (55+)

Discover how immigration transforms societies—economically, socially, and politically, its effects on both the United States and countries around the world and how it shapes both local and global development.

Foreign Policy Discussions presentations are offered through the nationwide Great Decisions program to learn more about vital foreign policy issues facing our country. The sessions feature lectures and lively discussions with local college professors and other guest speakers.

Anne Linnee

Instructor

Following a more than 20-year career as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, Anne retired from the State Department in 2023. During her career she primarily worked on issues in, and related to, Africa and Asia. Her overseas assignments included the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Mauritania and South Africa, as well as Washington, DC. Her final assignment was as the U.S. Consul General in Durban, South Africa.

Originally from Minneapolis, Anne now lives in the Twin Cities where she is involved in a variety of non-profits and regularly lectures around Minnesota on global issues. To satisfy the creative side of her brain, she also works at Bachman’s.
She has a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota and a M.S. in National Security Strategy from the National War College in Washington, DC. She speaks Spanish, French and some Mandarin.
