Exploring Public Art Bicycle Tour: Mississippi Central Riverfront & University of Minnesota Public Art Bicycle Tour (Southwest)
Tour public art by bicycle. We will start with an overview of the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis Public Art Programs. View public art along Mississippi River parks Sheridan Veterans Memorial, Memorial to Survivors of Sexual Violence and others, Main Street 6th Avenue Stroll, and the East Bank Campus Crucible, Platonic Figure, Site Index, Spannungsfeld, Garden of Iron Mirrors, etc.
A 12 mile ride, primarily on paved trails, taking 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Tour starts and ends at Sheridan Memorial Park (1300 Water St. NE).
Bring your own bike and helmet.
Tour leader Greg Ingraham is a local artist, former landscape architect and planner and self professed “bike weenie”. His public art focuses on functional items such as benches, bicycle racks, way-finding and gateways.
