Level 5: Stroke Refinement Ages 8+ (Northeast Pool)
You should have the endurance to swim 25 yards using the front and back crawl. Further develop your skills for the following strokes: breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and butterfly. Successful completion of Level 4 swim skills. -
Masters Swim Practice (Southwest Pool)
Requirement: comfortable with repeated front crawl swims of 200 yards or longer. USMS registration is no longer required it is an option. You can join the Minnesota Masters Team if you are interested in competing in pool or lake races. Certified experienced coaches will work with participants who are looking for conditioning, stroke work, and varied training in a team setting, Coaches work with a broad range of backgrounds, interests, speeds, and ability levels, to give daily practices a mental and physical challenge. Participants are not required to compete, but participant interest does include preparation for racing in pool races, open water, and triathlons. Parent & Child - Ages 3-4 (Southwest Pool)
Learn support techniques for moving your child through the water. Learn water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating and underwater exploration. Bring your child’s favorite bath toy. Child must be potty trained. Fee covers both parent and child. One adult per child. -

Age Group 1 - (Ages 8-14yrs 11 mo) - 60 minute session up to four times weekly) Focus on stroke, start; turn efficiency; and speed while learning to think about race strategy. Participants must be able to swim 200 yards of Front Craw (with side breathing) without stopping Perform all four competition strokes * Front Crawl & Backstroke consistently with solid technique (good head & body position, correct stroke and kick) * Breaststroke and Butterfly - Swim 50 yards (1 lap) consistently with at least one of either the arms or legs "competition legal" **If a participant needs to build endurance, they may be asked to attend the Novice group temporarily.** NOTE: These practice sessions are in partnership with Minneapolis Lake Monsters swim team. All registrations will be placed on a waitlist. New participants will be notified if they are able to be added to the roster. All participants will be required to register annually with USA Swimming and Minnesota Swimming Inc. Novice swimmers - (Ages 7-12yrs 11mo) 50 minutes up to twice weekly - Focus on improving endurance and stroke mechanics while learning starts and turns. Participants must have either completed Red Cross Swim Level 4 OR Foss Level 5; OR be able to swim the following: * 50 yards - Front Crawl * 50 yards of backstroke * Understand how to swim Breaststroke and Butterfly (ok if coordination is not put together yet) NOTE: These practice sessions are in partnership with Minneapolis Lake Monsters swim team. All registrations will be placed on a waitlist. New participants will be notified if they are able to be added to the roster.
