Students will learn mathematical concepts by building, shaping, measuring, sorting, counting, comparing, designing, creating patterns, exploring shapes, and solving problems with clay. Rather than learning mathematics only through worksheets, students experience math as something they can touch, manipulate, visualize, discuss, and use to create. Kindergarten, first-grade, and second-grade students will work with various types of clay, earthenware, polymer, air dry, and oil-based clay to build functional, sculptural, decorative and wearable works of art. In this exciting robotics class students learn mechanical design, construction, programming, and teamwork skills. In pairs, using LEGO building elements, motors, and sensors, students build different robot prototypes and program them with a computer to move, react, and make sounds. Students will utilize their prototypes and programming to solve design challenges using the LEGO WeDo 2.0. Students will participate in the 2026 Robotics FIRST Lego League Challenge. (Energy-Electricity-Electronics) Power up your mind! In our Energy, Electricity, and Electronics course, students will be an investigator, diving into the core concepts that light up our world. Students explore the fundamentals of energy, including how it's measured, converted, and transferred. We will also look to the future, examining the importance of conservation and the potential of alternative energy sources through a hands-on, problem-based approach. Students will conduct investigations into key concepts like currents, open and closed circuits, series and parallel circuits, and static electricity. Students also explore the properties of conductors and insulators, and the principles of magnetism as they work on exciting, project-based experiments. Get ready to level up! Engage in exciting electronics projects, middle school students learn to build, test, and troubleshoot circuits using circuit boards and other electronic components. The adventure continues with a special opportunity to explore the fascinating world of digital electronics. In Afternoon Fun House, young students will enjoy a lively mix of cooperative games, creative crafts, active movement, and unstructured play. Designed to help students unwind, socialized with peers, and build teamwork, this class provides a safe, welcoming, and vibrant environment to burn off energy and make new friends after school. Register by Tuesday, September 22, to guarantee bus transportation on the first day of class. Registrations completed after September 22 will have busing starting November 3. Love drawing and watching Anime? This club is for you! Students will build their anime drawing skills using books and tools to perfect their characters while hanging out with other students who love Anime. We will watch Anime from Crunchyroll and make and enjoy different types ramen noodles!

Join Anime club! Meet and spend time with fellow anime lovers. We'll be taking a look at some of the most popular anime series and films. We watch a variety of series and shows that the youth suggest and vote on. Ratings for anmie vary but kids tend to suggest series that are PG, PG-13, and TV 14. Minneapolis Community Education is committed to making our classes accessible to all families. If you need a full or partial scholarship or would like to set up a payment plan, please contact the Justice page coordinator Emily Sowell, emily.sowell@mpls.k12.mn.us., to discuss available options. We’re happy to work with you to find an option that meets your needs. Activity Bus Information: Register by Tuesday, September 22 in order to have a bus the first week. Register between 9/23-10/16 and you will be routed on the bus by week 2 or 3 of the program. Once the program has started it takes a minimum of 10 business days to be routed. Please plan an alternative pick up while you wait for your bus route. Only choose “bus” if you intend to use it for the majority of the days registered in the program. If your student does not ride the bus for 2 weeks they will be removed from the route. Join Craft Club, a fun and inclusive creative space where students of all abilities come together to make art, learn new skills, and build friendships. This club is partnered with Unified through Special Olympics of Minnesota, celebrating inclusion and teamwork through hands-on projects and creative expression. We work with clay, paper mache, paint, beads, and other mediums. A Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN) Unified after-school club is an inclusive student organization that brings together youth with and without intellectual disabilities to collaborate, socialize, and lead. Operating under SOMN’s Unified Champion Schools initiative, these clubs focus on building meaningful friendships, co-organizing inclusive sports or recreational activities, and running school-wide campaigns that promote acceptance and respect. By giving every student an equal voice in leadership and social events, the club works to eliminate stigma and foster a culture where everyone feels valued and included. This is an ALC Extended Learning class and is paid for with state and federal funding.

Join us as we learn the basics of CAD (Computer Aided Design) and apply those skills to a variety of projects. You'll use the Engineering Design Process and geometry to design solutions in 2D and 3D. With our 3D printers you will bring some of our models to life to create a one of a kind battle bot! This is an ALC class only only available to Justice Page students. Activity Bus Information: Register by Tuesday, September 22 in order to have a bus the first week. Register between 9/23-10/16 and you will be routed on the bus by week 2 or 3 of the program. Once the program has started it takes a minimum of 10 business days to be routed. Please plan an alternative pick up while you wait for your bus route. Only choose “bus” if you intend to use it for the majority of the days registered in the program. If your student does not ride the bus for 2 weeks they will be removed from the route. If your student is not eligible for busing during the school day, they are not eligible for the afterschool activity bus.

Have the opportunity to play with other beginners in a relaxed setting! **This is an adult & child class - only one registration is needed per pair (child only) but please be sure the same adult is attending all classes with the child

Join Ms. Michelle, a community member and former Fashion Designer, in our after-school sewing studio to learn how to machine sew! In this two day a week class students will learn how to follow patterns, create stuffies, bags, and pillows, and leave proficient in sewing. Sewing machines, fabric and all supplies are provided. This is great class to learn how to sew if you have never sewn or are looking to become more confident in using a sewing machine.

Fall Session, 10/5/26 - 12/17/26 No CommEd Oct. 12-16 (MEA week) nor Nov. 3 (record-keeping day), Nov. 23-27 (Thanksgiving) In order to ensure that our high-quality enrichment classes are accessible to all families, Minneapolis Community Education is collecting program fees so our youth programs can be financially sustainable and more equitable. The different prices reflect the actual cost of offering a class as well as options that help us cover our administrative costs. Fees cover instructor pay, class supplies, program materials, marketing and scholarships. The actual cost of the class is the first listed however, families are asked to pick the price that they are able to pay. As always, we will continue to offer scholarships upon request. When families participate as they are able, in all levels of our sliding scale, the whole program becomes self-sustaining. Thank you for your consideration as you sign up for youth programs!
